Summary
skillSYMS is a large platform and no provider uses all of it. The Store shows what exists, Modules shows what you have, and between them they answer the two questions people actually ask: “can the system do X” and “why can I not see X”.
Who This Guide Is For
- Owners and executives deciding what to switch on
- Administrators configuring modules
- Anyone who has been told a feature exists and cannot find it
Step 1: See What You Have
Navigate to Settings → Modules.
This lists the modules enabled for your provider, their state and their configuration. If somebody cannot see a part of the platform, check three things in order:
- Is the module enabled here?
- Does their role include it? Menus are filtered by persona.
- Have they signed out and back in since it was enabled? Some permissions are read at login.
The third catches more cases than people expect.
Step 2: Browse the Store
Navigate to Store.
Every module is listed with what it does and what it costs. Read the description rather than the name — several modules have names that sound like other modules, and a few do considerably more than their name suggests.
Step 3: Request or Enable
Depending on your plan, a module is either enabled directly or requested and then provisioned by skillSYMS.
Enabling a module does not populate it. A new module is an empty module, and the value arrives when somebody sets it up — which is what the training tracks in My Training are for.
Step 4: Understand Metering
Some capability is metered rather than flat-rated: AI generation, SMS, and volume-based usage on certain modules. Metered usage is visible before it is billed.
Check it monthly for the first quarter after enabling anything metered. Estimating AI usage in advance is genuinely hard, and the first real month is the only reliable number.
Step 5: Configure Before Announcing
Configure a module and load real data into it before telling staff it exists. A module announced empty gets one visit from each person and then a reputation.
What Good Looks Like
- Somebody can say why each enabled module is enabled
- Metered usage has been read at least once
- New modules are configured before they are announced
Common Mistakes
- Enabling everything. A crowded menu makes the useful modules harder to find.
- Forgetting the sign-out step when a colleague cannot see a newly enabled module.
- Announcing an empty module.
