Tell Me About Yourself
The question that opens the door
🎤 "So, tell me about yourself."
It is often the very first interview question, and it sets the tone for everything after it.
The interviewer is NOT asking for your life story. They want to know:
• who you are professionally
• what you bring
• why you are a good fit for this job
A clear, confident answer here calms your nerves and gives a strong first impression.
Use this simple three-part structure:
1️⃣ Present — who you are now: your current role, studies or situation, and one strength.
2️⃣ Past — the experience, training or achievement that prepared you for this job. Pick the most relevant, not everything.
3️⃣ Future — why you want THIS job and what you hope to contribute.
Aim for 60 to 90 seconds. That is roughly 150 to 220 spoken words. Longer than that and the interviewer starts to lose focus.
Pass the challenge and it arrives straight away as a PDF. Add it to your CV or LinkedIn, and anyone can check it's real.
