QUEST PASSWORD-SAFETY

Why passwords matter

🔑 Your passwords protect your email, banking, social media and work systems.

Your email account is the most important one: if someone gets into it, they can use "forgot password" to reset almost everything else.

Criminals get passwords in three main ways:
• Guessing — trying common passwords, names and birthdays, often with software that tries millions of options
• Leaks — when a website is breached, stolen passwords are shared and tried on other sites
• Tricking you — phishing pages and calls that ask you to type or read out your password

This MicroQuest covers habits that defeat all three.
